For Linux users, especially the Ubuntu Desktop, if you are bored with the Wallpaper on the Display Screen that’s all. You can use a Live Wallpaper for your Ubuntu desktop display. However, because (as I know) there is no feature to change the Live Wallpaper in Ubuntu, we will install a tool called Komorebi. With this tool we can install Live Wallpaper on Ubuntu Desktop.
“Komorebi is an awesome animated wallpapers manager for all Linux platforms. It provides fully customizeable image, video, and web page wallpapers that can be tweaked at any time! – (Source : What is Komorebi?)“
So, at Komorebi there are pictures, videos and web page wallpapers that we can customize to our liking. We can also add new images or videos as Live Wallpapers in this Komorebi. Well, let’s just go to how to install it :
Step 1 – Download the latest Komorebi (Live Wallpaper on Ubuntu)
You can download it HERE , or you can use wget
:
wget https://github.com/cheesecakeufo/komorebi/releases/download/v2.1/komorebi-2.1-64-bit.deb
Step 2 – Install Komorebi with your favorite package installer
After you finish downloading, you can immediately install it, there are many options to install it, you can use the default ubuntu Softweare Installer tools, you can use gdebi, apt, or dpkg. For me, I install it using dpkg like this :
sudo dpkg -i komorebi-2.1-64-bit.deb
Step 3 – After installing, you can run it right away
After the installation is complete, you can immediately run it, just look for Komorebi in the Application and run it.

There will be 2 applications, the first is Komorebi and Komorebi Wallpaper Creator. With Komorebi we can build the appearance we want according to what is already available, while in Komorebi Wallpaper Creator we can add the wallpaper we want. Here’s how the Komorebi Live Wallpaper looks:
How, interesting isn’t it? we can set the wallpaper according to our wishes. For complete documentation about Komorebi, please visit the link I have in the source section below.
Yep, that’s a little information that I can share about how to install Live Wallpaper on Ubuntu. Hope this information is useful, Thank you ^^,
[UPDATED]

Like Komorebi, but want to delete a video wallpaper I tried. Any suggestions on how to do that?

Hallo,
You can manage your video wallpaper file in /System/Resources/Komorebi folder on your Linux

Thanks for the quick reply, but that doesn’t help me at all. I have zero experience with Linux and the only way I installed Komorebi in the first place is that they give you a step by step “recipe” for doing so. That I can handle. I cannot find the System/Resource/Komorebi and if I did, I have no idea how to change anything in terminal. I guess I am looking at uninstalling the bugger and starting over.

OK, I understand, if I have free time I will write about how to manage image / video wallpaper on Komorebi step by step.

Thanks, I’d really appreciate that and I can’t be the only one. There are tutorials on how to get started, but I’m sure others put in bad videos. A simple fix seems a lot better than starting over.

How do you delete a video wallpaper in Komorebi? I put one in there that I’d rather get rid of.
